One very windy slightly damp day our riding group featured four flat tyres. So, quite flat really even though we climbed 500 metres or so that day. What should’ve taken us about five hours in fact took us more than eight hours before we got to our camping spot for the night. It was a weary some windy day and we were pleased to get to our beds.

We crossed into Denmark from Kristiansand and arrived in three different locations in Hirtshals. Ferries are efficient in these nations with offloading and unloading occurring in 30 minutes or so.

Our first day of riding was almost completely on a cycle path and was as flat in the main with no wind across farmland. Gloriously luxurious after the hills of Norway. But Nirvana did not last for long. Some rain, some strong cross winds, and a few ups and downs. Five days of riding on the trot.
A delightful meal in Vejle lifted our spirits. We sat in a row and were greeted and treated as very special guests. Warmed our hearts.

The next day began with a hill to end all hills, and you already know what happened after that.
We did visit a Viking ship complete with a rune on the water’s edge where some partook of ice cream. That was before our punctures and various trips to bike shops.

Many thatched houses and barns in central Denmark
Ah Denmark. You have been interesting, but perhaps not the jewel in the crown of Scandinavia. We have app appreciated seeing you in your length if not your width.
